Belly Dance Classes (Raqs Sharqi)
Welcome to Dance with Kirsten, classes designed to introduce students to the joyful world of belly dance (also known as Raqs Sharqi or Dans Oryantal - Dance of the East).
Classes emphasize the joy of dance in a safe, supportive environment.
Dress in comfortable clothes, soft dance shoes, socks or bare feet are recommended, and shimmy belts will be available for students during the classes. No street shoes allowed in the dance studio.
MIXED LEVEL BELLY DANCE CLASS
Classes are offered in monthly sessions on Monday evenings 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Elks Performing Arts Center on Gurley Street, Prescott.
This is an ongoing class where we work on refining our technique to create strong, fluid hip movements, graceful arms, layering and footwork. Anyone who is familiar with the basics of any belly dance style is welcome.
Please note:
For the duration of 2025, classes are focusing on preparing for our Acker Night performance.
OCTOBER CLASSES WILL BE OCT 6th AND 13th ONLY.
THE CLASSES WILL BE 2 HOURS LONG, 6:30 TO 8:30 PM.
We will work on learning "A Very Short Drum Solo."
NOVEMBER THRU DECEMBER, CLASSES WILL BE:
NOV 3, 17, 24 and DEC 1, 8 and 15. (Dec 15th will be our last class of the year)
We will learn a veil dance to Jemilleh.
We will also arrange extra rehearsals as necessary.
$50 pre-paid for the month of October.
$75 prepaid for Nov/Dec classes.
Sliding scale is available if necessary.

This is the class you have been waiting for! If you have always wanted to learn how to belly dance, but didn't know where to start, this is the class for you. Actually this class is good for anyone who wants to get a firm foundation in belly dance or anyone who wants to refine and build their technique. We will cover all the basics, history and cultural context, rhythms and musicality.
