Belly Dance Classes
Welcome to Dance with Kirsten, classes designed to introduce you to the joyful world of belly dance (also known as Raqs Sharqi or Dans Oryantal - Dance of the East).
Dress in comfortable clothes, soft dance shoes, socks or bare feet are recommended, and loaner hip scarves will be available for students during the classes.

TECHNIQUE TUNE-UP
June 1 and June 8

Technique Tune-up is a two-week catch-up series to review and practice basic to intermediate technique. It's a great chance to finally work on the 3/4 shimmy, layering, travel steps and variations of hip and chest moves. Bring your questions. The class will cover technique, drills and combos and prepare you to learn Saidi style belly dance. Appropriate for anyone with some belly dance experience (any style).
SAIDI SUMMER
June 15, 22, 29 and July 6, 13, 27 (No class on July 20).
6:30 to 8:00 pm
Saidi Summer. Saidi is a style of belly dance that evolved from the man's Tahtib (stick) dance. It is very lively, energetic, bouncy and sassy. Saidi style dancers typically wear a long dress, head scarf and often dance with a stylized cane. You will fall in love with this happy, fun dance style.

Note: Classes run from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. time slot is available for optional extra practice, questions and stretching.
All drop-ins are $25 dollars

OFFERED THROUGH YAVAPAI COLLEGE COMMUNITY EDUCATION
If you have always wanted to learn how to belly dance, but didn't know where to start, this is the class for you. Actually, this class is good for anyone who wants to review, refine and build their technique.
We will cover all the basics, combos and choreography. This class is appropriate for absolute beginners and anyone who has completed a previous Belly Dance Basics (and Beyond) class with me.
We will be learning a choreography with veils to the song Miserlou for the summer session.
